Are You Doing This ?

Today I would like to take a moment and tell you about my recent trip to Morocco.

First, To all my friends in Morocco thank you for a great a visit and teaching me so much.

Now here is what I want to ask you: Are you actively building your vocabulary every day ?

Without question the single most important area of communication is the ability to have words - especially the appropriate or correct words.

Far more than grammar - in order to share ideas - words are the critical key - especially complex verbs and adjectives.

What do I mean by complex ? I mean words that share abstract thought and shades of color or nuance.

Now, why do I say this?
Because as I travelled all over Morocco on this trip I ran into many people who could NOT speak English - NOT really anyway -
but yet they knew a lot of English words and although some conversations took a while we actually discussed quite a bit of difficult material.

In Morocco the two languages are Arabic and French. English really doesn't go very far with most.  But many people knew English words. In particular I spent several days with several people, and because these individuals had large vocabularies our conversations were quite interesting.

In addition as our conversations continued the grammar errors they made became fewer ! And this was only within the period of a few days. Of course as a teacher I corrected them when they made a grammar error and within no time the same mistake was not made.

Just like with kids and irregular verbs for example: take and took (not taked) - once corrected without thought these speakers naturally remembered.

Now the keys to this important point are:

Do NOT stress - just learn a few words a day
Do NOT be nervous when speaking just relax and Find a friendly ear

So - if your goal is speaking and listening - in other words communicating face to face - then spend real time building your vocabulary.  When you speak with OPEN EARS grammar comes naturally.

To  your Success !

Best Studies !
